URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 684 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 535 PM CDT Fri Sep 15 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Eastern New Mexico Panhandle and South Plains of Texas * Effective this Friday afternoon and Saturday morning from 535 PM until 200 AM CDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible SUMMARY...A gradually increasing severe-thunderstorm threat is expected through the remainder of this afternoon and evening, both with initially isolated strong-severe convection already over northeastern New Mexico moving southeastward, and additional thunderstorms anticipated farther south through early tonight. Severe gusts and hail are the main concerns. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 85 statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles west northwest of Dalhart TX to 20 miles east southeast of Hobbs NM.
